What a week…..

Wanted to write a quick note and let you all know how things are going up here . My last post on Sunday night ended with us checked in to to our hotel room in Durham praying I would be able to go through with surgery the next day. It is now Thursday morning! We’ve come a long way, baby!

Surgery went well, my doctor is very confident that he got all of it. He did have to do deeper into the muscle than expected and take more tissue in general. He was able to close without a skin graft but I have to use a walker and not put any weight on my leg for the next 3-4 weeks. My sister is already talking about how we will decorate it!

I finished my day in no pain due to the epidural in my back and a wound vac.

This is where things get a little mysterious. On Tuesday night, my Blood Pressure began to drop and go very low. I have always had low blood pressure but this was scary low. Of course, I had every scan and blood test possible to figure it all out. I was getting weaker and weaker and nothing seemed to help. This morning as the nurse was checking my vitals, she noticed a small patch behind my ear. The anesthesia team put it there before surgery. I had totally forgotten about it and the nurses on my floor were never told.

A motion sickness patch had caused all of us to get worked up! Ha! It’s the little things!

Within 20 minutes of removing it, my BP was up. I feel better today than I have all week and finally have the energy to sit up and type.

I am slowly having all of the tubes and epidural etc. removed today so I can be ready to go home tomorrow and enjoy the rest of the month with my Good Vibe Tribe!

Love,

Melissa

Melissa, how wonderful! I hope your recovery is quick and your pain minimal. It’s always a great day when cancer’s hiney is kicked since it kicks so many along its path of destruction. I hope you and your family have a wonderfully blessed holiday season!!!
